What type of resin do you use for your art?I use epoxy resin made by two different manufacturers, depending upon the art piece I'm creating. For the majority of my art (e.g. wall art, clocks, serving trays, charcuterie boards, coasters, jewelry dishes, and ceramic dish art), I use a resin that is formulated to prevent yellowing, a common problem with other resins that occurs over time and with exposure to UV light. This same resin is also certified as food safe, which is important for serving trays/charcuterie boards and coasters, and it helps produce fantastic cells and lacing for the waves in my ocean art. For my resin spheres, phone grips, and magnet sets, I use a different brand that has the ability to be poured in deeper layers at a time. However, this resin is more resistant to yellowing than other brands, so it still provides protection from yellowing as quickly.

Isn't epoxy resin toxic? In an uncured state, yes, epoxy resin is toxic. However, once epoxy resin has cured (hardened), it is no longer toxic and is safe to touch.

How do I care for my resin art?To keep your resin art looking beautiful for years to come, do the following: Use a duster or dry/slightly damp cloth to clean entire art piece. Be very careful cleaning 3D components such as sand, bushes, trees, etc. Use a mild glass cleaner with a soft cloth or paper towels to remove smudges or fingerprints on the resin. Avoid all harsh chemical cleaners and abrasive materials as these will damage your art piece. Do not place or leave your art piece in sunlight or hot temperatures. High temperatures (above 100° F) can cause the resin to soften and become flexible, although it will harden again once cooled off. And even though the resin used greatly prohibits yellowing, regular exposure to direct sunlight could cause pre-mature yellowing.
